In the spring of 2004 Marcia VanCamp, the director of the Duluth Central HS Choralaires, asked me to compose a piece for her women’s ensemble. She was very interested in the poems of Sarah Teasdale and knew I was eagerly looking for texts to set. I agreed to compose a piece for their spring concert. I was able to work the choir multiple times; as a result they asked me to conduct them at the premiere. The piece is scored for SSAA a capella.
